Coast to Coast Relay for Rett and Ultra for Rett
Since 2012, our annual fundraising and publicity activities have included an 80-100 mile coast-to-coast "Relay for Rett" / "Ultra for Rett".
Relay for Rett: Teams of fundraisers, including Retts girls, travel in relay 80 miles Coast-to-Coast by walking, running, cycling, wheelchair and barge over the course of a weekend.
Ultra for Rett: Individual fundraisers are sponsored to cycle the 100 mile route in a single day.
We are currently looking for volunteer fundraisers to cycle the 100-mile Coast-to-Coast ultra in 2016 from Ayr to Edinburgh. Please contact the secretary for more information if you would like to get involved!
Since the inaugural Relay for Rett in 2012 (details below), we have had a Relay for Rett and Ultra for Rett in 2013 and an Ultra for Rett in 2014, all of which raised much-needed funds as well as generating publicity for the charity. In 2014 the activity raised over £3000.
Inaugural Relay for Rett 2012: Friday 25th - Sunday 27th May
To coincide with the 2012 Olympics and the fortnight in which the Olympic Flame toured the UK, RSAS organised a relay to raise awareness of Rett Syndrome and to raise much needed funds.
Retts girls and their families, friends and supporters completed more than 80 miles over the 3 days by foot, wheelchair, bike and barge!
Thank you to everyone who took part in the 2012 event or provided support and sponsorhsip - we raised more than £4500 towards the annual Badaguish Family Weekend!
